When It's No Longer Food... It's A Super Food!

When you think of losing weight, the first thing that comes to mind is - WHAT do I eat?

In such a scenario, there are certain food that can not only help you lose some of that belly fat, but they might also give you additional benefits - think long life, better skin, better digestion and more.

They are called... drumroll please... super foods!

Super food lowers your cholesterol level, reduces the risk of heart diseases and at times also provides a bonus of better mood.

Guess what? They do not have any side effects and are easily available in your nearby grocery stores! Super foods are nothing but those foods which are high in nutrients and beneficial for health and well-being. They are special category of foods found in nature.

Blueberries

Blueberries are packed with antioxidants and phytoflavinoids also rich in potassium and vitamin C, this is the reason why doctors and nutritionist suggest it the most. Blueberries lowers the risk of heart disease and cancer and they are also anti- inflammatory.

The darker the blueberry is, the more antioxidants they have. Frozen blueberries are equally good as the fresh ones. They protect neurons from the effect of oxidation and inflammation. Blue berries have high water content making them hydrating for skin and other cells of the body. They also help in making memory stronger.

Eggs

Egg white provides low calories, fat free, high quality protein options. 

Eggs are so rich in protein that you will not feel hungry for hours after a meal.

There are various ways of eating the egg white like making a omlet or using it in salad or using them in baked goods. Usage depends from person to person according to their taste and preferences. They also contain omega-3 fatty acids which are necessary for normal functioning of body and heart health. Eggs can also boost up your eye health.

Dark Chocolate

If you choose it wisely, then yes chocolates can be a wise treat!

Dark chocolates are high in flavonoids, antioxidants and also helps in low blood pressure, better blood flow & boosts heart health but the effects are usually mild. Chocolates having 70% cocoa should be picked so that the antioxidant power can be optimized.

Dark chocolates can also boost up your mood. They also lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Dark chocolates are also said to have theobromine which hardens tooth enamel, unlike other sweets it lowers the risk of cavities.

They are rich in vitamins and minerals like potassium, iron, copper etc. It helps in reducing weight by lowering the cravings for sweet, chilli and fatty food! Dark chocolates reduce stress and acts a sun protection. They provide relief from cough and diarrhea.

It is said that when a pregnant women has chocolates during her pregnancy period, she tends to have happier kids. Dark chocolates increase your intelligence level, so don't forget to have a chocolate before your exams! ;)

Spinach

Spinach is full of antioxidants and vitamin C along with lutein & zeaxanthin , this duo acts as a guard for the eyes and also guards against muscular degradation.

Spinach is also rich in vitamin K which plays an important role in cardiovascular and bone health. Spinach being high in iron too helps us in maintaining our nails and hair. It is said that spinach also prevents or delays age related cognitive decline.

Spinach contains peptides, peptides are small pieces of protein which help in low blood pressure level. No wonder how popeye was such a strong man!

Red Bell Peppers

Bell peppers have a sweet and tangy flavour.

A red bell pepper has double vitamin C as compared to oranges. Vitamin C keeps your body free from radicals and keep our blood & skin vessels healthy and strong. It also contains vitamin B6, folic acid & fibre which reduces the risk of heart attack and strokes. Bell peppers also help in preventing arthritis.

The antioxidants present in bell peppers decrease the rate of eye diseases such as cataract. Bell peppers have high water content and they are also very figure friendly! They also contain anti- cancer and blood-sugar balancing properties.

A diet including all these super foods will help you in maintaining your weight, fight diseases &most importantly live longer. One common thing about super foods is, all of them are going to be a real food!
